YJ Gauges - Can the ACTUAL gauges be bad?

Ok I know the circuit board on the back of the gauge cluster is junk and causes issues. I also understand that if your sending units are not functioning correctly, the gauges will not read properly. I also understand that if it is not grounded properly it will not read correctly.

My question is this, is it possible that the actual gauges are bad? The circuit board can be replaced by just direct wiring everything according to configuration on the circuit board (which I have done). But my gauges are still reading incorrectly, the temp gauge is reading way high. I have replaced the temp sending unit, no fix.

Before I start replacing the other sending units, fuel, oil, etc. is there any point?

The wiring is possibly messed up somewhere under the dash, which I will check next.

I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. I am having an issue with my AC not working. Initially I tried filling it with the leak repair type freon, and it worked for a day or so. Then I took it to a mechanic friend of mine who pressurized the system with the freon that had the dye in it so that I could find the leak. The system worked for about a month or so, and then stopped working again AND with no indication of a leak. My compressor will constantly kicking on and off. The system seems to still be pressurized as well. My friend suggest it may be a low pressure cut-off switch. What do you think?
